The Relative Precipitating Capacity of Certain Salts When Applied to Blood Serum or Plasma and the Influence of the Cation in the Precipitation of Proteins.* by Paul

چکیده
Evidence has been presented (1) indicating the occurrence of critical zones in the precipitation of the proteins of blood, Cpon the addition of increasing amounts of sodium sulfate at these zones there is not a marked increase in the quantity of protein precipitated for a given increase in salt concentration. The eones occur in the neighborhood of the following concentrations of sodium sulfate at 37°C.: 10.6 per cent (2), 14.2 per cent, 17.7 per cent, 21.5 per cent, or expressed in volume-molar concentrations, 0.75, 1.00, 1.25, and 1.50 molar, respectively. Comparison with certain existing procedures for separating proteins has shown that (a) the 0.75 molar solution precipitates the same amount of protein from plasma as that obtained by the addition of calcium chloride to oxalated plasma (2) ; (5) the 1.00 molar solution precip itates essentially the same amount of protein as that obtained by dilution and acidificat.ion of serum or plasma with CO* (1) ; (c) the 1.25 molar solution does not produce an appreciable precipitate in new-born calf blood, but does give a precipitate in adult blood or in the serum of the new-born calf within a few hours after the absorption of the proteins of colostrum or of blood (3) ; (cl) the 1.50 molar solution gives results which approximate the results obtained with saturated magnesium sulfate or one-half saturated ammonium sulfate (1). INVESTIGATIONS ON THE DRUG-PROTEIN IN TERAC TION OF CERTAIN NEW POTENTIAL LOCAL ANAESTHETICS
Generally, plasma proteins owe their binding capacity to the presence of aminoacid units which enter into intra- and intermolecular hydrophobic bonding with a diverse range of endo- and exogenous chemical substances. The intermolecular interactions between the hydrophobic areas of drug molecules and those of plasma proteins play an important role in drug-macromolecular complex formation and...
متن کاملCharacteristics of Potential Protein Biomarkers Extracted with 10% TCA from Blood Serum of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma Patients
Blood serum has been extensively explored as a source of the bio-markers [1, 2]. For concentration of minor protein(s) and depletion of abundant blood serum proteins a 2,2,2-trichloroacetic acid (TCA) precipitation procedure is frequently applied [3]. However, a significant amount of proteins may be present in the TCA extracts, and these proteins are often not studied.Recently, we have sh...
متن کاملP-31: Effect of Body Mass Index (BMI ) and The Level of Plasma Concentrations of Biomarkers in Semen and Blood Serum in Infertile Men
Background The present study aimed to shed light focus on the level of certain hormones such as AMH, FSH, LH, Inhibin B, alpha-glucosidase, and testosterone in the seminal plasma and blood serum to patients inferile men groups (azoosperia, oligospermia and normosperia) as well as calculate the body mass index and find some relationships between these biomarkers and BMI for the same patients. Ma...
متن کاملThe effects of electromagnetic fields on alpha-fetoprotein expression in the amniotic fluid of mouse embryo
Amniotic fluid (AF) is essential for fetal development and maturation during pregnancy. The levels of proteins in AF have been determined in many studies to screen for potential biomarkers of pregnancy-associated abnormalities. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a major AF and plasma protein produced by the yolk sac and the liver during the fetal period. APF serum concentrations are commonly used for s...
متن کاملRate of Glucose Utilization by Blood Cells in Serum and Plasma Specimens With or Without Using Preservative
Objective: This study aims to estimate and compare the time-course change in blood glucose levels by blood cells in serum, and plasma with or without preservatives, which may reflect the rate of glucose utilization by blood cells. Method: This laboratory-based cross-sectional study was carried out using a blood specimen of 28 participants among which 14 were diagnosed with diabetes and 14 were...
